All inspiring Leon F.Sylvers (III) is an accomplished songwriter and producer from Memphis, Tennessee.  Leon began his musical career with his family group "The Sylvers".  His early songs included 'Misdemeanor' written for brother Foster Sylvers in 1973.  From there he became a respected songwriter within the Los Angeles dance music scene, showcasing the 'Solar' sound at Solar Records, which ironically stands for (Sound Of Los Angeles Records).  With Solar's main boss Dick Griffey he instigated into a uniformed line up groups, such as Dynasty's ('I Don't Want To Be A Freak'), writing and producing for label aficionado's Shalamar ('Take That To The Bank', and 'Second Time Around' and 'Night To Remember') and The Whispers ('And The Beat Goes On' and 'Tonight').

He's written intensively for these artists:
  • Gladys Knight & The Pips ('Save The Overtime For Me')
  • Evelyn 'Champagne' King ('Hold On To What You've Got')
  • Stacy Lattisaw ('You Ain't Leavin')
  • The Detroit Spinners ('Right Or Wrong')
  • Gina Foster ('Love is A House')
  • The Brothers Johnson ('You Keep Me Coming Back')
  • Dynasty ('I've Just Begun To Love You')
  • Krystol ('After The Dance Is Through')
  • Lakeside ('Power')
  • Glenn Jones ('Finesse')
  • The Whispers ('And The Beat Goes On')
  • Howard Hewett,
  • Gene Page ('Love Starts After Dark')
  • Shalamar ('The Second Time Around')  and Real To Reel ('Love Me Like This')  among many others.
As an artist he also recorded a solo album 'Leon Sylvers III' on Motown in 1989.  The album contained the track 'Let's Go Thru It', highly popular on the U.K. soul scene, whilst background vocal chores were undertaken by the other family members of The Sylvers.  If you listen to the Shalamar material and compare them with Dynasty, The Whispers and so on, you'll notice assimilates in the beats instruments.
