George Floyd was born on Sunday, 14th October 1973 (age 46 years; at the time of his death) in Fayetteville, N.C.George grew up in Houston's Third Ward, one of the city's predominately Black neighborhoods, and most of his family members still live there.  He attended Jack Yates Senior High School in the Third Ward in Houston, Texas.  

While studying at Yates High School, he became a key basketball and football player in the school's teams.  Struggling to find work in Houston, he left for the city of Minneapolis.  While living there he worked as a truck driver and later, as a door security person at the Conga Latin Bistro, a popular Latin American restaurant.  Earlier he worked as a security guard at the Salvation Army's Harbor Light Homeless shelter in downtown Minneapolis in 2017/2018.  During the Covid-19 pandemic, George Floyd lost his job as a door security person at the Conga Latin American restaurant when Minnesota's governor issued a stay at home order to help contain the spread of the virus.

We'll be there in mind and spirit forever.  R.I.P.
